INSCYD provides a comprehensive framework for your training. FTP is the most commonly referenced metric that nearly all riders, and most coaches, use to define their cycling, but it is simply one of the measures that matter. The reality is that FTP is a non-invasive approximation of what’s called Maximum Lactate Steady State (MLSS). Simply doing a 20 minute effort and subtracting 5% may be a consumer friendly approach to the inherent complexity of the underlying physiology. By comparison INSCYD testing offers you a 360 degree view of the whole system – from aerobic power to fat utilization, from V02max to Neuromuscular and Glycolytic predispositions. Among the unique measures with INSCYD testing are things like your Velocity of Lactate Accumulation – the new buzz term VLamax – and perhaps more important, the optimal intensity for Lactate Clearance and recovery! Other insightful measures include the power at which your fat utilization is highest (FATMAX), the power at which your carbohydrate utilization is maximized (CHOMAX), the size of your CHO reserves, and in-workout values for things like the actual percentage of your VO2max used in specific workouts, and the ability to build training zones to target specific elements of your training.
