Northern California has the distinct pleasure of
hosting the
2006 World Deaf Cycling Championships June 17 -
24th.
Sterling Sports is proud to be an Official Sponsor of
this
prestigous event. We will be providing Race Support
Services
for both the road and track portions of the event. In
addition to
our on site mechnic and soigneur we'll have a large
shaded tent
repleat with cold drinks, hot tunes and tasty
delicacies for all
the US athletes.
In addition to our Race Support sponsorship Coach
Matt has
been named the Head Coach for the road race
portion of the
Championships. In mid March the team held a mini
camp that
gave the riders a chance to preview the course and
spend
some time together. After two fast laps all agreed
that the
Pescadero road course was a beautiful and
challenging venue
sure to bring about a worthy champion for whomever
wins
there.

The return of daylight savings means the return of
Tuesday
Night Workouts! These fun and challenging workouts
are held
alternate Tuesdays in either Fremont or Los Altos.
The Fremont
rides are hosted by the Fremont Freewheelers Race
Team and
are held on their race course off Stevenson and Hwy
880. If
you are not a member of FFBC you should contact
Richard
Brockie, captain of the race team, for an invitation to
attend.
Alternate tuesdays the ride is held in Los Altos and is
open to
any Sterling coached athlete. These rides meet at
6pm in the
Trader Joe's parking lot at Homestead and Foothill
Expressway.
With a broad selection of courses in the area you
never know
what Coach Matt might think of. It could be a day of
pace line
work on Foothill, hill repeats on Redwood Gulch, or
even a time
trial up Montebello road. Whatever the scenario you
can bet
that it'll be a good challenge! Besides, isn't it more
fun to suffer
in groups than to suffer alone!
